|Artist||Monet, Oscar-Claude||Famous for its international boating races, Argenteuil was a perfect location for Monet and his friends. By1875, he had completed many paintings of boats there, in a variety of colours, conditions and situations. Here, the red boats are in the centre of the composition contrasting of strikingly with the blue sky and water and green vegetation. The entire view is punctuated by touches of white, from the sails to the reflections in the river.
