La Route de la ferme Saint-Siméon en hiver, 1867
|Artist||Monet, Oscar-Claude||From early on in his career, Monet was attracted to Japanese snow scenes for their brilliance and luminosity. Japanese prints were printed with translucent coloured inks on light paper so they gave the impression of a particular radiance that appealed to Monet. He painted this picture with a soft palette of white, violet, blues and brown, creating patterns out of the snowy branches that were silhouetted against the sky.
