Details     Description

Artist Monet, Oscar-Claude

Jean and Camille often appeared in Monet’s paintings. This shows Jean with Camille in the background, in their house at Argenteuil. Jean stands between two of big pots that appear in other paintings of the garden. The art critic Gustave Geffroy wrote that this scene was “above all a study of the way air and light flow into the house”. Monet exhibited it at the Third Impressionists Exhibition in 1877.
