Essai de figure en plein-air : Femme à l'ombrelle tournée vers la gauche, 1886

Details     Description

Artist Monet, Oscar-Claude Alice’s third daughter Suzanne inspired Monet to paint two versions of this picture. Suzanne was 18 at the time and possibly reminded him of Camille, whom he had painted in a similar pose several years before. He painted her against the light, barely sketching her features, bit capturing instead the play of light and shade created by the sunshade.
