BACK   Odalisque, 1870           Details     Description     Artist Renoir, Pierre-Auguste Inspired by Delacroix, who visited Algiers and painted a large number of pictures with Algerian motifs,Renoirproduced a few paintings in an “Orientalist” style, although not travelling to Algeria himself until 1881. When exhibited at the Salon of 1870, the work received favourable notice from the critics .
