Chronology

11 February 1876 Harold John Wilde Gilman is born  at Rode in Somerset

1890 Begins boarding at Tonbridge School, north of Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent

1894–1895 Attends Oxford University

1896 Enrols at Hastings School of Art in Sussex

1897 -1901 Attends the Slade School of Fine Art

1902 Travels around Spain. Marries to Grace Cornelia Canedy.

1907 Gilman and Sickert are introduced

1908, 1909, 1910, 1912, 1913 Exhibits at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris

1908 Showed at the first exhibition at the Royal Albert Hall

1910 Takes a trip to Paris

1916 Gilman and Ginner set up their own art school

1917 The school is closed

12 February 1919 Dies in the French Hospital on Shaftesbury Avenue, a victim of the post war influenza epidemic
