22 June 1876 Gwendolen Mary John is born in Haverfordwest, Wales

1884 The family moves to Tenby in Pembrokeshire, Wales

1895 - 1898 Studies at the Slade School of Art

1898 Makes her first visit to Paris. Studies under James McNeill Whistler at the Académie Carmen

1899 Returns to London

1900 Exhibits her work for the first time at the New English Art Club

1903 Travels to France

1910 Finds living quarters in Meudon, a suburb of Paris where she would remain for the rest of her life

1913 One of her paintings is included in the seminal Armory Show in New York
