1875 Born: in Bordeaux, France

1897 Accepted in Gustave Moreau's studio at the 3ò4cole des Beaux-Arts, Paris, France where he became friends with Rouault and Matisse

1900 Worked with Matisse at the Paris World Exhibition to decorate the Grand Palais

1905 By an accident of timing, he found his work being shown in the celebrated Cage aux Fauves at the Salon d'Automne

1905 Participated in a group exhibition with Vlaminck, Derain, and Matisse at the "Salon d'Automne"

1906 Worked in Normandy with Raoul Dufy in Le Havre and Trouville

1907 Stayed with Matisse and Camoin in London

1907 His first solo exhibition was held at the Galerie Druet in Paris

1947 Died: in Paris, France
