October 14, 1824 Adolphe Joseph Thomas Monticelli is born in Marseille

1842 - 1846 Attends the 3ò4cole Municipale de Dessin in Marseille

1847 Continues his artistic training in Paris, where he studies under Paul Delaroche at the 3ò4cole des Beaux-Arts

1855 Meets Narcisse Diaz, a member of the Barbizon school, and the two often paint together in the Fontainebleau Forest

1870 Returns to Marseille

June 29, 1886 Dies
