Chronology

9 November 1864 Paul Sérusier is born in Paris

1875 Enters the Condorcet Lycée, where he studies classical philosophy, Greek and Latin, and the sciences

1885 Studies at the Académie Julian. His lifelong friendship with Maurice Denis starts there

Summer of 1888 He travels to Pont-Aven and joins the small group of artists cantered there around Paul Gauguin. While at the Pont-Aven artist's colony he paints a picture that becomes known as The Talisman, under the close supervision of Gauguin

1892 Returns to Brittany, to the small village Huelgoat. Spends winter in Paris

1895 Comes to the Benedictine monastery of Beuron in Germany. Return to Paris after that

1908 Starts to teach regularly at the Ranson Academy

1921 Publishes "ABC of Painting"

7 October 1927 Dies at Morlaix
