August 28, 1810 Constant Troyon is born in àvres, near Paris

1833 Firs entry to the Salon, where he exhibites three landscapes depicting the area around àvres

late 1830s He turns his attention to landscape painting, and his first Salon entries are views of Saint Cloud and Sevres

1846 Troyon is awarded a first-class medal at the Salon

1847 He visits the Lowlands

1849 His first entry to the Salon devoted to an animal subject

February 21, 1865 Constant Troyon dies in Paris
