Chronology

December 28, 1865 Félix Edouard Vallotton is born into a conservative middle class family in Lausanne

1882 He  is graduating with a degree in classical studies. Moves to Paris to study art under Jules Joseph Lefebvre and Gustave Boulanger at the Académie Julian

1890 A large exhibition of ukiyo-e prints had been presented at the 3ò4cole des Beaux-Arts

1892 He is affiliated with Les Nabis

1898 A series of ten interiors published by the Revue Blanche

1899 Vallotton marries Gabrielle Rodrigues-Henriques

1900 He attains French citizenship

1907 He begins to write novels

1914 Vallotton is volunteering for the French army, but he is rejected because of his age

1917 He spends three weeks on a tour of the Champagne front

December 29, 1925 Vallotton dies in Paris
