Chronology

8 August, 1869 Louis Valtat is born in Dieppe

1886 He applies for admission at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and completes his training at the Académie Julian where he makes friends with Albert André and Pierre Bonnard

1890 He wins the Jauvin d'Attainville prize; he then sets up his workshop at rue de La Glaci?re in Paris

1893 Valtat takes part in the Salon des Artistes Indépendants for the first time

March 1899 Paul Signac organizes a joint exhibition at la Galerie Durand Ruel where Louis Valtat presents twenty paintings entitled "Notations d'Agay, 1899"

1897-1898 He spends the winter season in Agay, a small fishing village of fishermen close to Saint RaphaS¿l and, later on, in Anthéor, a few kilometers away

1905 Louis Valtat  and his wife Suzanne move to la Butte Montmartre, at rue Girardon and place Constantin Pecqueur

1914 Louis Valtat moves to l'avenue de Wagram, close to l'Arc de Triomphe and to the Bois de Boulogne whose lakes very often appeared in his work

1924 He buys a house in Choisel, a small village in the Chevreuse valley

1927 Valtat is made chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur

1952  He dies in Choisel, France
