1861 Maxime Maufra is born in Nantes, France
1879 Begins to paint and is encouraged by two local artists, the brothers Leduc
1884-1890 Continues in commerce at Nantes, painting in his spare time
1886 Exhibits in the Salon
1890 Decides to give up commerce and become a full-time painter. Leaves Nantes and goes to Brittany, where meets Paul Gauguin and Paul Serusier
1892 Takes a studio in Paris
1894 Has his first solo exhibition in Paris at Le Barc de Toutteville
1895-1896 Works in the Highlands of Scotland
1913 Goes to Algeria
1918 Dies in Ponce (Sarthe), France
